IP54 provides protection against dust ingress (5 = dust protected, not dust-tight) and water splashing from any direction (4). IP67 provides complete dust-tight protection (6) and full immersion protection up to 1 meter for 30 minutes (7). IP67 is significantly more robust and suitable for harsher environments including outdoor use in rain and wet industrial settings.
For most outdoor industrial inspection applications — including power substations, oil & gas facilities, mining sites, and chemical plants — IP67 is strongly recommended.
