Proprietary Technology Portfolio

Patents & IPProprietary Innovation

Shaanxi Smart Innovation Future Technology holds a portfolio of granted invention patents, utility model patents, and software copyrights covering the core technologies in our quadruped inspection robots. These patents represent genuine engineering inventions — novel solutions to real technical challenges in robot locomotion, sensing, and autonomous operation.

Our IP portfolio is the foundation of our competitive differentiation. It enables us to offer capabilities that cannot be replicated by assemblers or resellers, and it ensures that our technology development roadmap is driven by our own engineering priorities — not third-party licensing decisions.

Core Patent Areas

Our patents cover the fundamental capabilities that differentiate our robots from commodity alternatives. Each patent area represents a genuine technical invention with direct product application.

Locomotion Control

Invention Patent2 patents

Adaptive gait generation algorithms that allow the robot to transition between walking gaits in real time based on terrain feedback — enabling stable movement on slopes, stairs, gravel, and wet surfaces without manual mode switching.

Multi-Modal Sensor Fusion

Invention Patent1 patent

Methods for fusing data from LiDAR, thermal cameras, visible cameras, and IMU sensors into a unified environmental model — enabling simultaneous navigation, anomaly detection, and equipment status recognition in a single inspection pass.

Modular Payload Architecture

Utility Model Patent1 patent

Mechanical and electrical interface design for hot-swappable sensor payloads — allowing operators to change inspection configurations in the field without tools or specialized training.

Autonomous Inspection Scheduling

Software Copyright1 software copyright

Cloud platform algorithms for autonomous inspection task scheduling, route optimization, and multi-robot coordination — enabling a single operator to manage a fleet of robots across multiple sites.

Thermal Anomaly Detection

Invention Patent1 patent

AI-based algorithms for detecting thermal anomalies in electrical equipment, including overheating connections, failing transformers, and abnormal temperature gradients — with automatic alert generation and severity classification.

GPS-Denied Localization

Utility Model Patent1 patent

SLAM-based localization methods optimized for indoor industrial environments with repetitive structures — enabling reliable navigation in substations, tunnels, and warehouses where GPS signals are unavailable.

Why Proprietary IP Matters When Choosing a Robot Supplier

The difference between a robot manufacturer with proprietary IP and one without is the difference between a technology partner and a product reseller.

No Third-Party IP Exposure

Buying robots built on proprietary IP means you are not exposed to third-party patent disputes that could affect product availability, pricing, or support continuity. Our technology is ours to develop, license, and support.

Genuine Innovation, Not Integration

Patent ownership is the clearest evidence that a company has genuinely invented something, not merely assembled existing components. Our patents cover core robot capabilities — locomotion, sensing, navigation — not peripheral features.

Customization Without Licensing Constraints

Because we own our core IP, we can offer OEM/ODM customization, feature development, and system integration without navigating third-party licensing restrictions. Your custom requirements can be implemented directly.

Technology Longevity

Proprietary IP creates a sustainable competitive moat. Companies that own their technology continue to invest in it. Companies that license technology are subject to licensor decisions about pricing, availability, and development direction.

IP Ownership Enables True OEM/ODM Partnership

Because we own our core technology, we can offer genuine OEM/ODM customization that goes beyond cosmetic changes. Our IP portfolio enables us to:

Modify locomotion algorithms for specific terrain requirements
Develop custom payload interfaces for proprietary sensor systems
Adapt navigation software for specific facility layouts
Create white-label products with custom branding and feature sets
License specific technology modules for integration into partner platforms
Co-develop new capabilities under joint IP arrangements

Patents & IP — Frequently Asked Questions

What technology evaluators, OEM partners, and procurement teams ask about our intellectual property portfolio.

Patent ownership is a direct indicator of whether a manufacturer is a genuine technology developer or a contract assembler using third-party components and licensed designs. A manufacturer without core IP is dependent on its component suppliers for technology roadmap decisions, pricing, and supply continuity. By contrast, our invention patents in locomotion control and mechanical design give us the ability to iterate independently, protect our designs from copying, and offer OEM customers genuine differentiation. For buyers evaluating long-term supplier relationships, patent ownership is a key signal of technology depth and supply chain resilience.

Yes. We can provide a patent portfolio summary listing our granted invention patents, utility model patents, and software copyright registrations, including patent numbers, titles, grant dates, and brief abstracts. All Chinese patents are publicly searchable in the CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) database at pss-system.cponline.cnipa.gov.cn. For qualified buyers and OEM partners, we can also provide more detailed technical summaries of key patents under NDA. Please contact us to request the portfolio summary.

Our IP portfolio covers both hardware and software dimensions. On the hardware side, our invention patents protect core mechanical innovations in the joint actuator design and leg linkage geometry. On the software side, we hold software copyright registrations for our fleet management platform, autonomous navigation stack, and AI-powered inspection algorithms. This dual coverage means that both the physical robot platform and the intelligence layer running on it are proprietary, giving OEM customers a more defensible product differentiation position than hardware-only IP.

Standard OEM agreements grant customers the right to sell and use our products under their own brand, but do not transfer ownership of our underlying IP. For strategic OEM partnerships involving significant customization investment, we can negotiate limited field-of-use licenses for specific application domains or geographic markets. Any custom developments created specifically for an OEM customer — such as bespoke payload integrations or application-specific software modules — can be structured with shared or customer-owned IP rights depending on the investment contribution. IP terms are negotiated as part of the OEM partnership agreement.

We maintain a freedom-to-operate (FTO) posture by actively monitoring the patent landscape in our technology domain and designing our products to avoid infringement of third-party IP. Our invention patents also provide a defensive portfolio that can be used in cross-licensing negotiations if needed. For OEM customers, we include standard IP indemnification provisions in our supply agreements, covering claims that our products infringe third-party patents when used as intended. Customers should review the specific indemnification terms in their supply agreement with our legal team.

Build on Our Technology Platform

Whether you need a standard product, a customized OEM solution, or a technology licensing arrangement, our proprietary IP portfolio gives us the flexibility to meet your requirements.
